Cake Pops!

Friday was my last day long term subbing in 5th grade--the school year has finished! So, as a thank you to my classroom and the other teachers/staff, I decided to make some cake pops!

I really wish I took a picture of the final cake pop set up--I made 3 batches, so it was quite a few!

Have you ever stumbled on Bakerella's website?

Oh. My. Goodness.

It is so awesome! She does a fantastic job at what she does!

So, she has inspired me to make some cake pops. On my first try, I did the cake pops on a stick. They turned out cute but I definitely needed more practice.

The second time I tried cake pops, I thought I would try the ice cream cone cake pops--and they turned out amazing!!

They are tasty, and were a big hit! I had 5th graders begging me to bring them ice cream cake pops next year in 6th grade, some asked for the recipe for their moms' to make it, and others took a picture of it (yes, they are pretty)!

I finally found baby cones at Target (they didn't have them at the other stores I went to). The baby cones are pretty limited though.

I'm not going to give away how to make these or the recipe because Bakerella worked very hard on her new book in which I turned to for help!

Super cute - my daughter is having an ice cream theme b'day party this year so this is an excellent idea for her party!

  2. Hi there! I'm your newest follower! I found you on Fireflies and Jellybeans! I LOVE this tutorial, just curious what did you use for the Red Cherries?
I would love to make these for my son's birthday ;)
Did you just dip the cones in pink chocolate melts and pour some brown chocolate melts on top?

    Thanks for your help!!

    Cheers!

  3. Thank you ladies!

@Keeley - This would be fabulous for a birthday party! :)

@Lilli - The red cherries are just pretzel m&ms! You could probably use any type of m&m though!

I just put the cake ball into the pink chocolate melts and then took a skewer (that's all I had) and pulled it out and placed on a baby cone (I also put another m&m inside to kind of balance it out)! I used Dark Chocolate melts to drizzle on top and it covers the hole. It worked out very well!
