New sewing machine!!

So, we had a FABULOUS Christmas. We are very blessed.

One of the things I recieved was a sewing machine! Yesterday from a friend who knew I really really wanted one called and told me she had a little surprise for me... as she opened her trunk, I knew exactly what it was! It was a terrific surprise. [now we can have a weekly sewing date...]

I learned I'm sewing machine illiterate but with my mom's help and the internet, we got it going. :) My first sewing project was a "quick" apron.

I added my initial instead of a pocket, and it was less than $4 to make! Yippee. It's definitely not perfect, but it's a start---and I think it looks fabulous.

Since I didn't have my hair done nor my make up, my gracious husband volunteered to model for you.

The Greatest Lover of All Time ♥

We played this during our wedding while lighting the unity candle... it's beautiful. The words really are amazing. Truly, God, all I have, all I am, I give to you.

Yesterday

Doesn't it feel like yesterday?

It feels like yesterday was the first day meeting you and your lovely smile.

Yesterday it feels like you, Tyler, Jen and I all went on our first date to Craig's Cruisers, Captain Sundae and the beach. It feels like we just went to your prom, all dressed up with big smiles.

How about the day you surprised me with a bear with a special ring on it. A gorgeous ring that fit exactly, was that yesterday?

Just yesterday, I saw you in a handsome tux while I was in a white sparkly gown. I was your bride, and you were my groom--just yesterday.

joshua, i love you.
you are my best friend.
today i give myself to you as i become your wife.
i promise to encourage you and inspire you,
to laugh with you and to comfort you
in times of sorrow and struggle.
i promise to love you all the days of my life,
when life seems easy and when it seems hard,
when our love is simple and when it is an effort.
these things i give you this very moment.
with this ring may it be a constant reminder of my promises to you.
i love you with all my heart and i am excited to begin our lives today
as husband and wife.

Yesterday seems so near but it's been 1 full year since we said "I do". I just cannot believe it--time sure does change in a blink of an eye.

My dear husband, you just make me who I am today. I love that you have been so patient, so understanding, caring, and just so sweet. You make my heart melt day after day. I'm so glad to have found such a wonderful guy. A guy who is willing to lose in Mario Kart just so his wife can win once in a while. A guy who puts hard work into everything he does... from gardening and taking care of his wife and her needs. A guy who doesn't really want to stay up late watching a tv show or a movie, but stays by his wife's side until she's ready to go to bed. A guy who has watched countless "chick flicks" for his wife's sake. A guy who has done laundry, dishes, cleaning, and other chores willingly while his wife has been busy with school. You are encouraging, playful, and silly. The spot that I have come to love is in your arms--a place to find comfort, giggles, and happiness.

It seems like yesterday we were just married--a year has gone by before our eyes. It's been a FABULOUS year! I love that we have worked out so many things and that we have not had many arguments... we've learned from others that life is just too short to bicker. Making the most out of every moment is what I want to continue into this next year. I love you so much. Thanks for being one of the best things in my life. I am excited for the future, and where God will take us.

Happy 1 year anniversary Joshua, I am so GRATEFUL for such a wonderful husband. I'm eager to have many, MANY more anniversarys with you!
xoxo
your wife :)
It was really fun being a tourist with you in Chicago this weekend! :) Next year, we will definitely do something more... relaxing. :)

New shoes and an Oath...

Okay... so I've been debating lately where to get my groceries. Yesterday, I finally decided to go to Walmart in Grand Haven (seriously like a 25 min ride from our house) (which isn't bad). I'm thinking I might go there more often... it's a big, brand new store, less people... it's quite nice.

I found $7 shoes... which were half off the original, so I thought I'd try them on! Comfy! I thought I'd share with you the "flashiness" of them... how sweeeeeet! Okay, they might be a little dorky...

Lately, Josh and I have really been slacking with laundry... I don't know how or why it's even got as bad as it is! ha. I think it was last week that I had Josh swear an unoffical oath about NOT folding his dirty (or things he wants washed) jeans! Seriously, who does that? [my husband!] Yes, I made him promise to NOT fold his dirty laundry because it CONFUSES his poor wife [that's me]!

**Photo taken out... lol, wow, too much detail when you click on it. So, it's out!** And yes, they were see through baskets. haha

The next night...
"Did you do the laundry" josh asks.
"What laundry... we have all clean clothes in there.." I reply from the kitchen.
"Whoops--sorry hun, I did it again. I folded my dirty jeans on top."

AH!
What will we do?!
[whoops I did it again] laundry is currently being washed.

Looky Looky!

The door opened.

I'm on the couch trying to get homework done.

"ERIN! Come out here! I have something cool to show you!!" calls Josh.

Outside I run... back inside I run... and then once more outside with the camera in my hands.

And this is what I saw:

A SNAKE (And I thought that spiders were my current problem!)!
Thank goodness it's not poisonous! Oh my!

Snake and cigar in each hand! Whoa! Talk about Josh being so masculine! :)

After thinking about... I would rather put up with little snakes like that rather than the HUGE spider that got squished at 5:30am this morning (by Josh, of course!)!

Oh the fun adventures one can have while attending to flower gardens.

Fun baking Friday...

Easy Topsy Turvy Brownies
~~My version of the recipe Topsy Turvy Cupcakes but simplified.

All you need is:

-Package of brownie mix
-oil
-water
-eggs
-sugar
-1 (8oz) package of cream cheese
-chocolate chips

1. Turn oven to 325 degrees
2. Follow directions on brownie mix. Place in a 9 x 13 pan. Set aside (NOT in the oven)
3. In a different bowl, mix:
-(8oz) package cream cheese
-1 egg
-1/3 C. sugar
-1 (6oz) package chocolate chips (I usually just add almost a whole 12 oz package! I LOVE chocolate!)
Beat cream cheese, egg and sugar until blended. Add chocolate chips.
4. Place cream cheese mixture into the brownie mix, swirl together with a knife.
5. Put in oven, let bake for 45-60 minutes in the oven. I like to bake it at the lower temperature for longer so that they are nice and gooey.

**If you like your brownies chewy - bake brownies at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Ta-Da! :)

Now, it's time to eat! Yum! :)
